Eloise Clara “Ellie” Piper was born November 24, 1942 in Olympia, Washington to Ernest and Clara Neshiem. She lived in many small Washington communities following her father’s road construction work. Her sister Patricia joined the family on January 21, 1949.

Ellie graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in Parkland, WA in 1961. She attended P.L.U. and the University of Washington and received her B.A. from Whitworth College in Spokane.

Tom Piper took Ellie as his bride on June 19, 1965. After two years of teaching in California, Tom and Ellie returned to Western Washington, living in Ballard, where son Joshua Peter was born on March 23, 1970, and then Kirkland where son Seth joined them on December 20, 1974. The Piper family spent the next 35 years in Woodinville. Ellie retired from the University of Washington Network Services as a communications technician.

Following retirement, Ellie and Tom settled in Oak Harbor and a comfortable home in the Whidbey Green “Active” Adult Community in September of 2008. Ellie survived six years of ovarian cancer and was fondly referred to as “my miracle girl” by husband Tom.

Ellie is survived by her husband Tom, sons Joshua and Seth, daughter-in-law Janet, granddaughter Katelyn, sister Trish Stevenson, sister-in-laws Judie Hudson and Karen O’Brien and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
