Obituary for Roswitha Kreszentia "Rosie" Stock

THANKS FOR ALL THE MEMORIES!!!

Roswitha K. “Rosie” Stock was born on December 9, 1959 in Ulm, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. She was raised by her parents Karen and Karl Schmidt. She had fond memories growing up with the twins Heidi and Sonya, whom she thought of as her sisters. She developed a love for the arts and expressed that in crafts, drawing, painting, gardening, and hairdressing. It was there, in Germany, she met a United States soldier stationed with the U.S. Army, by the name of Robert Stock. They quickly fell in love and were married.

On the 13th of August 1978, their first child, Thomas, was born. In 1982 the Stock family moved to the states by request of the U.S. Navy. During the next seven years they traveled back and forth between California and Texas while Robert was assigned to different duty stations. On May 25, 1983, Rosie gave birth to their second son, Joshua, in San Diego, and on November 4, 1987 they welcomed their third child, Sean, into the world.

The Stock family packed up their belongings and moved to Oak Harbor in 1990, where Robert served at NAS Whidbey. Rosie worked at the Commissary bagging groceries, where she made some lifelong friends, and enjoyed island life. Not long after the move Robert retired from the navy. Soon Robert and Rosie would divorce and Robert would move to Texas with Joshua and Sean while Rosie stayed on Whidbey with Thomas.

Rosie met Jeff Wold in 1997. Jeff would become her partner and best friend for the next 18 years. She worked with Jeff and her son Thomas renovating houses in the area and also labored as a Safety Technician in the shipyards in Seattle with Bob Henderson, a good friend.

In 2014 Rosie decided to become her own boss and started her own landscaping business, Roswitha’s Lawn Care. She worked hard and enjoyed her new found freedom of self-employment. In late 2015 Rosie began experiencing health issues and her family and friends became very concerned.

Early on January 13th Rosie was rushed to Skagit Valley Hospital where she died on the evening of January 14th.

Rosie is preceded in death by her parents Karen and Karl Schmidt of Ulm, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.

Rosie is survived by her ex-husband Robert Stock of Austin, TX, and their three children, Thomas Stock, of Oak Harbor, Joshua Stock of Austin, TX, and Sean Stock also of Austin, TX; her second family, Jeff Wold and his children, Shannon Wold of Orlando, FL, Eric Wold of Oak Harbor, Bob Henderson and his daughters, Lisa, Staci, and Laci all of Mt. Vernon, and one grandchild, Hayley Wold of Oak Harbor, WA.
