Condolences

Condolence From: Elaine and Patrick Rourke
Condolence: To all the family: We first met Rich and Susan at our "base camp" hotel, in Florence, Italy, at the beginning of a week long motor scooter trip. The airlines had lost their luggage and I was struck by how flexible, upbeat, and even optimistic Rich was about the situation. I would have been "totally off the wall", but he remained calm and collected. The first day of the trip, Susan decided to ride as passenger on the back of Rich's scooter, rather than as a driver. I casually volunteered to drive the scooter back to the hotel, rather than them having to pay for a truck. I will never forget the beam on Rich's face. Imagine my delight when Rich came to our room and offered me the scooter, free, for the rest of the week! What a generous guy! As we got to know both he and Susan, we were continually amazed by their lifelong achievements and kindness We loved them both more and more! We stayed in contact when we returned to the US and visited their lovely home in Washington in our RV. My husband and I were both amazed by Rich's chainsaw art, bee keeping, as well as his BBQ skills. He and Susan are such a blessing to all around. A loving husband, father and a doting grandpa were so evident! We will miss him so much! Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Thanks, Elaine and Pat Rourke, Titusville, Florida

Condolence: My condolences go out to the family and loved ones of mr. C.
I was in mr. C's Auto Shop class my junior year in high school in 1985. He gave many of his students skills that they still use to this day. My senior year I was his T.A. which pretty much consisted of me working on my jalopy. I always respected mr. C. He was one of my favorite teachers.
Rest in peace mr. C. Thank you for all you taught me and all the opportunities you gave me.

Condolence: Rich was a truly wonderful man. I so enjoyed working with him when he was the Director and interim Asst. Supt. of HR in Fairfield Suisun Schools. He was a man of honor and always followed through on anything you shared with him. I was very sorry to see him leave the district. However, I was thrilled for him for becoming an Assistant Supt at Solano Community College. Sending my thoughts and prayers to his wife, Susan, and his family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Condolence: I was shocked and so terribly sad to hear of Rich’s passing. I will miss him, and I regret not having reached out to him more over the last several years or taking him up on the invites to his retirement property. For the relatively short time I had the pleasure of knowing Rich he was a true friend, someone I felt I had known forever. His genuine nature, sincerity and passion to help others is unmatched. His words of encouragement as a friend, professional, fellow husband and father will live on with me. I was never ashamed or embarrassed to tell him I loved him. I can only hope to be the person Rich was and know there is a special place in heaven for Rich. Love ya man!

Condolence: Susan and family......so sorry to hear of Rich's passing....I had the privilege to work with Rich professionally as a Colleague in California. He was a "real pro" in his job and as a Colleague. Later he came to Whidbey where I live and we were able to continue our relationship. I was able to witness another facet of Rich.....his generosity and the fact that he was truly a "renaissance" man who could fix anything, creative and generous with his time and talents....He loved his family, and enjoyed being a grandpa.....it was a privilege to have our paths cross in our Journey.....

Condolence: Words can't express how sad it was to read Rich's obituary in the San Luis Obispo Tribune today. We both taught at Santa Maria High School, and we were in the same carpool for years. What fun times we all had each day riding between Arroyo Grande and Santa Maria. Rich was always on time, had a great sense of humor, and always ready to help every way. He loved his family and spoke of them often. We always looked forward to his annual Christmas letter. He was a wonderful friend.

Condolence: I was so sorry to read about Rich's passing. We worked together when we had similar positions in Lucia Mar and San Luis Coastal. He was a great resource and friend and I appreciated his commitment to his students, his wonderful sense of humor and love for his family. David was a student at my school and my husband Mike coached Karen in softball so our lives crossed in many ways. I know he will be deeply missed.

Condolence: What a wonderful man. Rich worked so very hard to make the lives of his students better. He cared about each and every one as if they were his own.

When I think back on our time together working in San Luis Obispo I smile. Richard had that gleem in his eye letting the world know that he was always available for a little fun and mischief.

The world is a better place because of Rich Christensen.

Hugs to the Christensen family.
