Obituary for Amoy C. Morse

Amoy Charlene Morse, aka “Moy”, 94, of Oak Harbor, WA, died Tuesday July 4, 2023. I am sure she loved that she will be remembered with fireworks each year with joy!

She was born to the late Gale and Rose Potter, on August 12, 1928, in Lewiston Idaho. Amoy graduated from Multnomah and Napa Colleges. She married the love of her life, George Leo Morse in 1948. George & Amoy traveled the world together & lived in Portland, OR (1948), Seattle, WA (1955), Oak Harbor, WA (1965), Orlando, FL (1969), Keflavik Iceland (1974), Napa CA, (1976), and returned to their retirement dream home in Oak Harbor WA in 1980.

Kids were all important to Moy; from her own kids, grandkids, great grandkids, day care kids, and pony club kids. When her own kids started growing up and leaving home she started teaching; first as a student teacher in Oak Harbor and then as a substitute teacher in Orlando. When she moved to Iceland, she managed the Youth Center and started a choral group called the LaOcean singers. Once George retired from his work in the NIS, in 1980, she started a day care her in Oak Harbor at our little 20-acre ranch. Her day care kids grew older, and she started the Lucky Pony Club, for all those who wanted to learn to ride. After her years with the Pony Club were over, Moy began to raise Pomeranians. and brought joy to many households with her loving pups.

George joined the Seattle Judo Club in 1953 and Amoy, she joined right along with him and earned her Blackbelt in Judo. When they moved from Iceland to Napa, Moy bought a ski boat before we had a house or a car because she wanted to make sure we had fun family time while in California. Moy was always about “let’s do it now” and not one to put anything off for tomorrow. With life and love she always jumped in with both feet. Her life revolved around family, kids, animals, and the joys of living. She had a fiery “Irish” temper and a contagious laugh.

With her passing, now George has his dream girl “Copper”, as he called her, returned to his arms. Now they can celebrate in joy forever.

Amoy is survived by five children: Gaye Ohlinger TX., Sher Harless WA., Suni Maclean WA., Jeff Morse WA., and Brad Morse AZ. She also is survived by twelve grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Flowers and remembrances may be sent to the Wallin and Stucky Funeral Home, 1811 NE 16th Avenue Oak Harbor WA 98277.

A Memorial will be held at 12p.m. Wednesday at Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home. Reception to follow after the service.
