Obituary for Barbara Louise May ""Grandi"" Nemec Garner

Barbara ‘Grandi’ Louise May Nemec Garner- 1942 to 2020

Barbara had a laugh and sense of humor that she passed down through the generations and people will remember long after her passing. To be her friend or loved one meant you needed to laugh easily and accept sarcasm readily. Even through her short battle with dementia, Barbara retained her boundless amount of love and her quick wit.

Among the family heirlooms Barbara left in this world are countless quilts she stitched with love and devotion. We are so grateful to have these to wrap around us like a warm hug as we miss her. Family member’s walls are also covered with cherished artwork painted by her. Her creative talent has left such a mark on our lives.

Barbara was a true caregiver. Lori and Sheri will be eternally grateful for how Barbara loved and cared for their father, Bill until his last breath. It was our honor to return the favor as Mom needed us to hold her hand as she walked the last difficult journey of her earthly life.

Barbara is survived by her daughters and their husbands- Lori & Joe French and Sheri & Tim Wies; her granddaughters- Aubrey & her husband Nelson Page, Kamryn Wies and her cats Squid & Q, Taylor French & her boyfriend James, and Michaela French and her fiancé Trevor; her precious great-grandsons- William & Jaylen Page; & her childhood partner in crime and sister, Vickie Peery. These people were her safe harbor and her happy place.

The following loved ones were waiting at the Pearly Gates, along with her Heavenly Father, to welcome her home. Her husband, Bill Nemec; her hero and father, who was killed in WWII, Staff Sergeant Victor May; her mother and 2nd father Elsie and Shorty Baker; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandparents who are catching up as you read this.

Private services will be held by the family after COVID is no longer a threat.

In lieu of flowers, and to honor Barbara’s love of genealogy, the family requests that you send photos or memories of Barbara to Sheri Nemec-Wies via Facebook so a book of memories can be compiled and enjoyed for generations to come.
