Claudia J Anderson

October 1, 1939 – January 31, 2023

Claudia J Anderson, 83 of Oak Harbor, Washington, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on January 31, 2023.

She was born and raised in Utah. After high school, Claudia attended the University of Utah. She married her high school “sweetie,” Larry in 1962, and joined him in California where he was stationed as a Marine.

She loved and relished her life as a wife and mother. She and Larry had a close bond that lasted for fifty nine years of marriage. They enjoyed drives on his goldwing motorcycle, trips to the mountains, lakes, and beaches. Claudia thought that the Pacific Northwest must look like heaven.

Another passion of hers was painting. Her subjects were oceans, beaches, mountains, flowers, clouds and anything from the outdoors. Many of these paintings have cherished places in her children’s and grandchildren’s homes. She also loved sewing, crocheting, needlework, photography and family history.

Geography was another love of hers, and a lifelong passion. She taught her children about land formations on road trips. This passion was passed on to her children and grandchildren. Claudia loved walking on the beaches of Whidbey Island, her eyes would light up each time that she found an agate.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren. For many years, Claudia was blessed with the opportunity to care for her grandchildren while their parents worked. This brought her great joy.

Claudia lost her husband thirteen months ago. Although she missed him every day, she was at peace knowing that he was happy awaiting her in heaven. On their fiftieth wedding anniversary, as Claudia looked around the room at her family, she exclaimed with a giant smile, “I have posterity!” Claudia wanted to make more lasting memories with her “”posterity “. She was able to laugh, pray, tease, mentor, teach and love creating lasting positive memories.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, her testimony and love of God remained strong throughout her life.

Claudia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Anderson as well her mother, father, and brother.

She is survived by her children Traci(John) Jones of Oak Harbor, Cheri(Dallas) Bower of Sedro Woolley, Larry(Lisa)Anderson of Yelm, Sam Anderson of Lacey, and Amber(Kerry) Reed of Oak Harbor.
