Obituary for Clinton Eugene "Clint" West

Clinton Eugene West of Oak Harbor, passed away comfortably in his home on January 15,
2024 at 90 years old.

Clint was born on December 28, 1933 to Elmer and Margaret West in Wallace, Idaho. In 1937
the family moved to Whidbey Island. When not working on the family farm, he was involved in
school sports, and always loved fishing for salmon and trout.

Clint met Patrecia Jane Camandona in January of 1951 at the Ingleside Dance when he was
17. Once he graduated from Langley High School in 1952, he enlisted into the Navy, leaving
Pat at home to finish school. Prior to another deployment, they married on December 20, 1954
and spent 69 loving years together.

After completing his Navy service, Clint went on to attend school at Central Washington
University where he achieved his Bachelors of Science in Education.

In 1960 Clint & Pat moved back to Whidbey Island. Clint took a job at Oak Harbor High School
as a math teacher and coach of football, basketball, and baseball. During the summers, he
attended Oregon University and received a Masters Degree of Science in 1968. Between the
years of 1969 and 1975 he held two positions as Vice Principal and went on to become the
Principal of North Whidbey Junior High in 1980. Clint held that position till 1989 when he retired.

In 1964 while working at his first teaching job in Oak Harbor, they adopted their daughter,
Kathryn. Followed by their son, Jerry in 1965.

Once Pat retired they began to travel to other countries and went on cruises. Clint spent plenty
of time on the green, golfing as a member of Whidbey Golf Club. He was a founding member
of the Oak Harbor Elks and a member of the Legion and VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Margaret West; Stepmother, Roberta West;
Siblings, Leonard, Robert, Gordon, and Donna; Son, Jerry; Granddaughters, Bailey Johnson and
Kayla Gillum.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pat West, daughter Kathryn Davis (Victor). Grandchildren,
Katelund Jones (Justin), Kyle Johnson, Kelsey Johnson and Great Grandchildren, Keeley
Meyer, Raelynn Jones, and Vaden Gillum.

On Friday January 26th, 2024 at 10:00am a service will be held at St. Augustine Catholic
Church followed by a private family burial. A Celebration of Life at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge
will begin at 12:30pm, including a Military Honor Guard presentation.
