Obituary for Dahlia Blackburn

Dahlia Debra Blackburn, 62, of Oak Harbor, WA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family November 22nd, 2022, in Mount Vernon, WA.

Dahlia was born July 17th, 1960 to Francisco and Nadine Gayatin at U.S. Naval Station Subic Bay, Philippines.

Dahlia met Joe in the summer of 1979 during a party at her parents’ house and began dating immediately; they fell deeply in love and were married July 12th, 1980. They recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.

Dahlia graduated from American High School at Fremont, CA in 1978. Dahlia was very patriotic and very happy being a Navy wife. She loved accompanying Joe during their tenure in the Navy stationed from the West coast to East coast and places in between. Her first job was working at Memorex in the Silicon Valley as a tape media technician. She went on to work at Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes as a Customer Service Manager and Home DĂ©cor Specialist. Dahlia had an eye for color and was a natural when it came to designing and interior decorating.

Dahlia loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful and loving wife, and a friend to just about everyone she met. She was very creative and enjoyed many hobbies including wood working, jewelry making, creating greeting cards, cooking and much, much, more.

Dahlia was a true beauty inside and out! She was warm, loving, highly determined, funny, humble, and loyal. We will always remember her fighting spirit and her heartfelt gift of giving. Dahlia was very active at Saint Augustine Catholic Church. Dahlia served as a Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, Religious Education teacher, Funeral receptions, Agape Community dinners, Choir, and as Region of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Dahlia is survived by her loving husband Joe, sisters Barbara Tampier (Mike), Nanette (Tony), brothers Frank (Tracy), Dary (Nannette). Nieces and nephews, Christian, Nicole, Eric, Frank (Rebecca), Devin, Danielle, Jason, Mitchell, Tawmie, Jaxon, Saskia, Zariyah, the Blackburn family and all her Ohanas too numerous to name.

Dahlia was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Nadine Gayatin.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 2nd @ 10am at Saint Augustine Catholic Church, 185 N. Oak Harbor Street, Oak Harbor, WA 98277.
