Obituary for Dale E. Kahoun

Sensei Dale Edward Kahoun passed away on January 12th, 2024, in Mount Vernon, Washington, at the age of 73. Sensei Kahoun lived life passionately and will be greatly missed for his bravery, dedication, and generosity.

Born August 15, 1950, in Tacoma, Washington, but considered Crescent City, California, his hometown, Sensei Kahoun spent 27 years serving his community as a police officer in the State of California. Sensei Kahoun trained in Martial Arts for over 54 years and shared his passion through teaching at community colleges, private dojos, and his own school. Throughout his life, Sensei Kahoun has received honors for his bravery and held life memberships in several Martial Arts Federations. Even when Sensei Kahoun retired to Oak Harbor, Washington, his love for Judo and Jujitsu was still strong as he continued to serve as a guest instructor and referee events.

He is survived by his loving companion, Magdalena Estrada, his many friends and chosen family around the world whom he has met through his service and passion. He is also survived by one brother, Gregory (Sally) Kahoun, and two nephews, Casey and Christopher.

Respects can be paid during his funeral at Sunnyside Cemetery, 90 Cemetery Road, Coupeville, Washington on Thursday, January 25that 1 pm.
