Obituary for Dallas J Burton

Dusty Burton
June 12, 1940 – May 22, 2022

Dallas J. Burton (Dusty) passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Mt. Vernon, Washington at the age of 81 to be with his wife Hilda.

Dusty was born in Buffalo, Wyoming to Frank and Candice Burton. As a child he and his friends would go to an old pond by the railroad tracks and build rafts and swim!

In 1957 he left his small town and joined the Navy. He became a parachute rigger. While he was in the Navy, he met his wife of 43 years in New Jersey. They got married and moved to Oak Harbor, Washington. While in the Navy he got his GED. He retired from the Navy in 1977 as an E6.

After the Navy he went to work as a supervisor for New Leaf. He than went to work for Skagit Valley College where he retired. During that time, he received two technical art degrees.

Dusty loved to fish and took every chance he could to do that. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He loved kids so he became a Disney character (Yosemite Sam) and participated in many parades. He worked himself up to grand master. In his last years he bought himself a new Mustang and it was his pride and joy! They were both 81 years old at the time of their passing.

Dusty was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hilda Burton, brothers, Larry, Raymond, his son Wesley.
Dusty is survived by his daughters Carole Croft (Jim), Loriann Johnson (Mike) and Juanita Baker; son Larry Burton (Noell), and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dusty and Hilda will be put in their final resting place to be forever together. A memorial service will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 1PM.

The family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Mt. Vernon for taking care of our dad and showing him love and compassion. The family would also like to thank Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home for making this transition easier on the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriner's Hospital.
