Obituary for Donald L. DuBois

Donald Lee Dubois passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Born on February 3, 1939, in a small Wyoming town, he was the son of Hubert DuBois and Irene Morehouse-Dubois. Donald’s life was a tapestry woven with diverse threads: from his days as a Boy Scout and later a Boy Scout leader, to his membership in the Masonic fraternity. He worked alongside his father on the ranch, tended dairy cows with his uncle, and eventually found his calling in the United States Navy, rising to the rank of Chief Aviation Structural Mechanic before retirement.

In his journey, Donald touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Susan Eileen Katrina Hasselwander, his sister Alice, and his brother Wayne. Yet, his legacy lives on through those who loved him. Survived by his devoted wife, Susie Dubois, and their children—sons Ralph and Donald E. and daughter Caroline. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was more than just a man; he embodied the roles of mentor, advisor, counselor, faithful husband, caring father, and steadfast friend. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void, and the impact of his presence will resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the chapters he authored, the wisdom he shared, and the love he bestowed. May his memory continue to inspire us all.

Don's funeral service will be held on Thursday April 18th at 1:00pm at Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home 1811 NE 16th Ave. Oak Harbor, WA. Directly following the service, Don's graveside service with military honors will take place at Maple Leaf Cemetery adjacent to the funeral home.
