Obituary for Donald Jensen

Donald J. Jensen, age 86 died at home peacefully in his sleep on July 23, 2021. He was born December 9, 1934, in Ruskin Nebraska to Emil and Christina Jensen.

Donald grew up on a farm and attended Hardy High School in Hardy, Nebraska. After high school he attended college in Fairbury and Lincoln Nebraska, before eventually graduated from Kansas State University, with his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering. He taught in the Engineering department in 1961 and 1962 and was president of Chi Epsilon Engineering Group in 1962.

Boeing brought Donald and his family to Bellevue, WA in 1966. He was a manager at BCS Technology Computing Support Group in Renton, WA until his retirement in 1990. Donald served as a volunteer Fire Fighter for King County Fire District #25. He moved up the ranks as Lieutenant, Captain, and Commissioner. Donald was elected three times as fire commissioner and served in that role for a total of six years.

Donald was also a member of the Oak Harbor Methodist Church, and Oak Harbor Elks Lodge #2362.

He was known as an avid outdoors man, enjoying traveling, camping and crabbing.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Waldean and Leslie Jensen.

He is survived by NaDeane, his wife of 62 years, 3 children, Scott, Mishelle, and Kristyn, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held August 21, 2021 1:00p at the First United Methodist Church in Oak Harbor.
