Obituary for Karen Lee Shults

Karen Lee Shults, 73, died comfortably in her bed at home on July 13, 2022. She was born on December 17th, 1948 in Arnigard, South Dakota, daughter of Vance Shirley and Evelyn Feiring. Karen was the proud wife of Michael W. Shults who served in the military from 1984-2003. She was an active member of the Military spouses club and she proudly was an ombudsman for the Deployment of the John F Kennedy deployment. Karen expressed her love for hearing all about her husbands different adventures when he would get home from sea. Karen was a hard worker who managed an entire Hilton hotel, had her real estate license as well as her own cleaning business.
Karen is survived by her husband Michael W. Shults. Surviving in addition to her husband are her sisters Kathy Massey, Billie Williams, Dorene George and her two sons Thomas Hinrichs and Timothy Hinrichs as well as her daughter Susan Haynal. She also had her grandchildren Christina Francis, Victoria Hansberry, Samuel Hinton, Vincent Hinton (Brad Zoph), Amber Cass, Amanda Cass, Tristan Gavin, Adam Hinrichs, Alainna Hinrichs and Janabee Hinrichs as well as her great grandchildren whom she loved very much. Karen is preceded by her daughter Lisa Gavin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Karen had a very lively spunky personality that people were drawn to. She always went out of her way to help other people in need. She had a great love for her dogs, some would say they were fed better than her husband. She loved gardening, canning, having fresh herbs and vitamins. Karen was very knowledgeable about many naturopathic ways in healing. She loved astrology and was a proud Sagittarius. She always loved to be doing something new and exciting.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 21, 2022 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home in Oak Harbor, WA. Karen's celebration of life will be held the following day Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11:30am with a graveside service following at 12:30 at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Karen's services are open to the public, anyone is welcome to attend. Those who wish to remember Karen in a special way may send gifts in her memory to the Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home.
