Lanetta M. Newbold was born April 27, 1943 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Blane and Leah Thomas. Lanetta passed away peacefully at Soundview Rehabilitation in Anacortes, Washington on July 24, 2020. She is preceded in death by Larry G. Newbold, her loving husband. She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy (Joe) Butcher and Shelly (Preceded in death by Mike) Weeks, and preceded in death by one son Bobby G. Newbold. Lanetta had four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Kandi (Shawn) McDonald Selene, Gavin, and Rylei, Tabetha West (Jesse Pantelakis), Romae, Amileah and Frankie Martinez, Jeffery (Jackie) Stowe, Jasmine, and Emily Butcher. She is the oldest of five children: Cherie (preceded in death Ronny) Carter, Randel (Sherron) Thomas, Barbara (Richard) Lundell, sister in law Jerri (Elliott) Burgess and preceded in death by Marsha and John Ferguson. She also has many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lanetta lived most of her life in Utah where she worked many years as a nurse’s aide for several different nursing homes. In her later years she worked Security for movie production. She was able to work on Touched by an Angel for many years as well as Promised Land along with many other movies. The last place she worked was as a crew leader in housekeeping for the University of Utah.

Over the past five years while living in Washington mom has able to do many things. She went to festivals, parades, and the fair. One of her favorite things was to ride on the ferry. Mom always looked forward to the pig festival and the music festival. The second Thanksgiving and Christmas, she started helping make special food baskets for Help House to be handed out to people in need in Oak Harbor. Mom was known around Oak Harbor as Mom. Most people don't know her first name. We are all blessed to know her and have her in our lives.

We will be celebrating mom’s life with a big picnic in the spring just as mom would want.
