Les, 86, passed away in his Oak Harbor home on April 11, 2020 with the love of his life Delores (Hamlin) Randall, and children at his side.

Les was born in the spring of 1933 in San Jose, CA and spent his early life in Mountain View and Oakland. He attended Mountain View High School, graduating in 1951. Les grew up with a deep love for cars and became a ASE Master Machinist and race car driver at a young age. He raced Hardtops in the 50s and 70s and joined NASCAR racing in the early 80s. Les also worked as a Northwest Tour Chief Steward.

Les originally joined the military to see the world and ended up dedicating 23 years of his life to the service. He served in the reserves and active duty, serving in the Korean War on board the USS Oriskany and Seabees in Willow Grove Naval Air Station, PA. The Navy led him to Oak, Harbor, WA, where he and his wife, Delores, resided for the last 50 years.

Les met Delores through her cousin who was on ship with him. She would become his life companion for 64 years, Delores (Hamlin) Randall. They met in Chicago and married on a snowy day (-16 degrees) at the Cathedral of St. Helena in Helena, MT on January 28, 1956.

An artist in his life and craft, Les also loved sketching, photography and collecting. He was also a Industrial Arts instructor at Oak Harbor High School through Skagit Valley College for a few years after retiring from the Navy. His family will remember him for the humble, sweet and loving husband, dad, brother and Papa that he was to each of them.

Les is survived by his wife of 64 years: Delores Randall, his 3 children: Teresa Montoya (Gene), John Randall (Tina), Connie Purchase (Tom), brother: Peter Randall, 7 grandchildren: Rachel, Jennifer, Ian, and Katie Montoya, Chase and Courtney Randall, Vince Purchase, and 7 great-grandchildren: Kyleigh, Brooke, Chad, Trent, Stella, Cadin, Emmett. We love you, Papa.

Les is calm at sea in the Kingdom of Heaven with his parents, Richard and Nellie Randall, and his dog Poppy.

He will be at peace and rest at Tahoma National Cemetery. Services at the cemetery and a celebration of Les’s life is pending and will be held at a later date.

Funeral and future service details can be found here on the Oak Harbor Wallin Funeral Home website. Please leave your memories, stories, photos and condolences of Les on his Memory Wall for the family.

7/25/2020 So sorry for your loss. George and I enjoyed both Les and Delores's 80th birthday party a few years ago. It was nice meeting all the sibs and hearing loving stories about Les and Delores. Cake was delicious, too. May your many loving memories sustain you in the days and years to come. If we can be of assistance in any way, please let us know. Love and Hugs, Judith and George Juno, Oak Harbor.
