Obituary for Margaret 'Meg" A. Van Dusen

Margaret (Meg) Ada Van Dusen, age 85 died in her home at Regency in Oak Harbor, WA on October 15, 2022. She was a graduate of Oregon State University with a BS in Business. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Meg met her husband in Saigon and married William Ross Van Dusen at Clark Air Base in the Philippines on May 15, 1965. Meg and her husband moved to Virginia in 1968 where they had two children Martha Van Dusen and Eric Van Dusen. Meg worked for the CIA as a Secretary from 1958 to 1967. Meg worked for the newspaper while living in Virginia. In 1979 Meg and her family moved to Oak Harbor, WA. She then started working for the Oak Harbor School District in1984 and worked there for 19 years. She was a Secretary at Crescent Harbor Elementary and then the Executive Assistant for Superintendent Rick Schulte when she retired in 2003.

Meg loved to travel with her friend Teenie and they traveled to many places in Europe. She took a cruise to Alaska with her daughter Marty and traveled back to Hampton Virginia many times to see her son Eric, wife Frances and granddaughter Katie. Meg also had many stories to tell about her time working for the CIA in the Philippines, Tai Pai, and Vietnam and she loved to tell all of them. Meg was a member of the First Reformed Church in Oak Harbor, WA.

Meg is survived by her son Eric Van Dusen (wife Frances) in Hampton Virginia and her brother John Dale Bauer in Salem Oregon. She is also survived by nieces, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Ross Van Dusen, daughter Martha Van Dusen, and granddaughter Katie Van Dusen.

A Memorial Service will take place at the First Reformed Church on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Coffee and cookies will be served after the service. Meg will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with her husband William Ross Van Dusen.
