Obituary for Mary Culp
Mary Elizabeth Culp (nee Huffman) died October 17, 2022. She was 97 years old.
Mary was born on May 8, 1925, in Forsythe, IL, daughter of James & Bertha (Beck) Huffman. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Culp, in 1944 while he was enlisted in the US Army Air Corps.
After WWII, Bob served in the Air Force for 26 years while Mary raised six children in various locales. The family settled in Bellevue, Washington upon Bob’s retirement, where they lived for the next 52 years.
Mary was known for her sunny outlook as well as for her gift of gab and her sense of humor. She always had room at the table for one more and has many “kids” that considered her mom. She loved to walk and take sightseeing drives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob and her eldest daughter Linda. Survivors include her son James (Gwen) of Olympia, WA; daughters Lisa (Jeff) Pickrell of Logan, OH; Jan of Seattle, WA; Nancy (Edward) Zaretzke of Greenbank, WA; Anita (Hideki Kato) of Brooklyn, NY; ten grandchildren and 12 great-children.
