Obituary for Norman J. Banta

Norman Banta, age 71, passed away at Regency on Whidbey in Oak Harbor February 4, 2024. He was born October 4, 1952, and was raised in Spokane, Washington. He graduated from West Valley High School and Spokane Community College with a degree in Forest Management. He retired from Island County Assessors office and was a retired from the United States Navy Reserves.

Norm loved trees and had planted and tended to a wide variety of trees on his land. He also loved the being on the water, on a ship or boat at sea, or a canoe on the Spokane River or walking the beaches of Puget Sound. He was a loving husband and father.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Mamie Banta and his sister, Kathy Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, and their two sons, Curtis (Dana) and James (Patty), and five grandchildren, Robbie, Conner, Ariel, Emilia and Paul.
