Obituary for Paul Gregor Bullard

Paul Gregor Bullard was born May 27, 1962, in Seattle, Washington to Martha Gladys Clark and William Wallace Bullard and died doing what he loved, riding his beloved motorcycle on Whidbey Island on the way to a Waltz event with his dance community. He spent his childhood in West Seattle playing little league baseball and later football at Chief Sealth High School. A true Pacific Northwest native, he was an avid snow & water skier and hiker in his younger days and had a general love for the great outdoors. His family hosted Japanese exchange students when he and his sister were teenagers, which led to a love of travel and cultural awareness.

Paul spent 2 years at Western Washington University in Bellingham and soon discovered he had a natural gift for languages, learning to speak fluent Finnish during an exchange year in Finland thru ICYE when he was 20 years old. Shortly thereafter, he and a Swiss friend travelled around the world which included rafting thru Thailand and juggling snowballs on the flanks of Mount Everest. He then worked as a school bus driver for 7 years while completing his college education at Seattle University and becoming an RN several decades ago. He started his career at Veteran’s Hospital and had recently found his true calling as a hospice nurse for Continuum Care of Washington where he was well regarded by staff and patients alike, and had profound satisfaction providing end-of-life comfort and care to patients.

A true Renaissance Man, Paul sang in his college choir, had a love of ballroom dancing including waltz, all forms of swing and Latin dance, rode a motorcycle and was an avid volunteer for the Arts, including volunteer shifts at the Moisture Festival, NW Dance, the Paramount Theater, and the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) where he received “Volunteer of the Year” twice.

He is survived by his sister, Karen Bullard (Nat Brace), nephews, Clark & Colin, and an enormous number of friends from his motorcycle, dancing, volunteer, and work communities. A celebration of life and dance party is being planned for this Fall.
