Obituary for Richard Marshel Anderson Sr.

Richard Marshel Anderson, Sr., age 56, passed away in his Oak Harbor home February 7th, 2019.

He was born on April 18th, 1962, the son of Keith and Carol Anderson.

In 1963 he moved with his family to Washington. Growing up he would ride his unicycle almost everywhere. He enjoyed playing football, wrestling, music, and was the guitarist and vocalist of his band “Pacific”. At a young age he earned his place as an Eagle Scout with Two Palms. While counseling at Camp Thunderbird he was known as a good and patient teacher of all things outdoors to dozens of kids.

As an adult in Tumwater, he became a carpenter and raised two beautiful children Raymona and Richard, Jr.

In his leisure he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, frisbee golf, football, chess, and working with his hands. He loved hiking, camping, boating, fishing, wood carving and building.

He was a craftsman. “MacGyver it Dad!” was commonly heard in the Anderson household.

Despite his “Rough Boy” exterior, anyone who knew him would tell you he had a huge heart. His contagious laugh and genuine smile would light up a room.

He lives on through his children Raymona and Richard Jr., grandchildren Ahsha and Bodhi, five siblings Dan, Dave, Doug, Jennifer, Steve, and mother Carol.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., March 24, 2019, at the Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Ave SE / Lacey, WA 98503.
