Jim and KMTA-NHA

Jim and Pinkie loved the scenic beauty and history of Alaska’s Kenai Mountains and Turnagain Arm.  They spent as much time as they could in their river-side cabin at Cooper Landing.  It was Jim’s dedication to the land and people of the Kenai Mountains, and his ability to work with a small group of committed others, including Al Fleetwood, that gave Alaska the Kenai Mountains-Turnagain Arm National Heritage Area.  Jim, always accompanied by his beloved wife, Pinkie, spent innumerable hours launching the program that funded grass-roots projects throughout the region.  His strong spirit, persistence and good management laid the foundation for today’s successful National Heritage Area.
