My wonderful friend Shala ... we didn't spend much time together, yet I will miss you so, such was your beautiful presence.  I will never forget how you were always ready to laugh at the silliest of things, then brilliantly debate with me different views on the most serious of world issues ... to join me in making funny food shapes at a restaurant like kids, and in the most grown-up of ways to nurse my cuts from a nasty fall on slippery rocks ... to tease me about my lazy attire choice (and rightfully so!) before going out dancing in Cuba, then to make me feel like the best possible dance partner once we got to the salsa club.  I'm heartbroken that you are no longer with us, and I really don't want to believe I'm even typing these words into this box right now.
