I emigrated from England to Whidbey Island in 2005 after marrying my American wife who lived in Freeland.
We eventually moved into Wheel Estates, Langley, and to our surprise into the house next door to Sheila.
Little did we realise how much we had in common, quickly discovered through enjoyable conversations.
In England in the 60's I met my first wife who lived in Sudbury, Sheila had history from there.
I found we lived a mile from Sheils's past residence in Ruislip, Middlesex but at different times of course.
It was nice to compare notes,... Ruislip, Eastcote, Rayners Lane, Harrow on the Hill where Winston Churchill had been educated in the famous Public School. Wembley, where I had grown up .
I still live in Wheel Estates and waved to Sheila as she sat in her favourite chair in the corner by her window.
She showed me her many paintings and pictures on the wall, I loved the ones of London and others too.
We saw Sheila's health slowly deteriorate but the wave and smile was always there. So sad to see you go, we will miss you but happy to have those commonly shared memories. 'Bye, Sheila, from another Brit.
Peter and Martha Evans, Wheel Estates. Langley.
