The Sheep

Elaine was my neighbor and a very good friend, she was like an auntie to me so I called her Auntie Em because of her initials. I was given six sheep back in 1997 and I didn't have much room for so many. I walked down to her house to ask if I could pasture them on the land next to her house. It had a creek running through it and although the grass wasn't great it, I thought it was suitable.

I didn't know her very well at that time but I figured all she could do is say yes or no. What a surprize I got when she said " Oh you are an angel I love sheep and I would love to have them here." She invited me in and we had tea. We talked about how I'd bring them down to her place, come to feed them and all that goes with the care. She let me build a shed to store the hay and one of the sheep had a baby there on her property.

The next year I had to endure a nasty divorce and I moved next door to her. I brought a couple of dogs, a horse and two pigs with me in addition to the sheepies as she called them.. Elaine was my friend and confidant. She listened and helped me get over the hurt of that time. She helped me keep my animals and loved them.

She was always encouraging and could always help you see your good and always appreciated everyone.I am thankful I got to know her, she made a difference in my life.
