My first Chief
I came here in July of 1971 as a wide eyed 18 year old sailor wondering what NAS Whidbey and Whidbey Island were all about. I was attached to the Naval Air Station and worked at AIMD, work center 620 run by a Chief named Herman Frank. He made a positive impact on me , always encouraging me to be the best I could be. Even though I was very young, I knew by just being around him he was a good man. I remember well attending his wedding at the NAS Chapel. I have such fond memories of working for him as a young sailor, remembering the photos he would share of his fishing exploits all over the world. He helped shape me into the Naval Reserve Master Chief I would become. I will miss him.
