I never played football, so I wasn't one of Duck's athletes, but I lifted for other sports and Duck always treated me and others as if we were one of his own, which made you want to earn his respect all the more. I think Duck understood the power of his ability to connect with and reach all students, and he used that power well. I loved Duck and count him among a small group of mentors that 'reached' me, and taught pain through sacrifice was not only rewarding, but FUN. Thank you Duck!
