He cared about more than one sport.

Mr Daugherty was also my track coack. Yes, he was the Head Football Coach, and Kennewick High School won the Big Nine (Conference Name at the time as a 3A) Champship the year before I played football for him. Yet, when I left Baseball and took up Track for my Junior Spring Sport; he, as the Assistant Coach, was considerate and helpful in me beginning to learn some track events.

The best one of the days I ever had in my life was when Coach Daugherty called over Head Coach Howard Roth to the Javelin area. He walked Coach Roth out passed the 180 foot arch and showed were I had been pulling my javelin out of the ground during my practice. Coach Roth smiled and said "This is you event". That help - nudge - focus by Coach Daugherty got me my College Scholarship to the University of Texas and essentially my Education of a BBA, Management concentration.

DUCK WAS GREAT!
